In group self insurance, the SIG acts like an insurance company by directly paying
for services, with Group members directly enjoying the benefits of those
services. Some services the group secures include a Third Party Administrator
to handle claims, Excess Insurance to protect the SIG against large losses, and safety and loss control to control exposures and ensure a successful SIG.
Insurance companies bundle all of the above, and include the cost in overall premium. By "unbundling" these services, and paying for them directly, you can secure a
lower cost for the items and save money. Often those dollars are significant.
Self Insured Solutions is a SIG Administrator, and responsible for the day-to-day operations of those SIGs with which we work.
